Great Lakes Brewing – Christmas Ale

Michigan Brew Wulf

Christmas Ale by Great Lakes Brewing. I’ve heard great things about this ale in particular for a while now, so I couldn’t wait to try it. It definitely has the spices going on I’d expect in a Christmas ale, and they’re excellently balanced. I just don’t know what it is with the Christmas ales I’ve tried so far, but they all seem pretty tart for a Winter time ale. Is this how it’s supposed to be? This one in particular was not too tart, it served well. But I just imagined an ale that would be richly malty, with spice going on. Where instead I find ales that are surprisingly more sour that I expected. Great Lakes brewing still has the best Christmas ale I’ve tried so far though
